The international conference focusses on the stained glass production of the influential Italian architect and designer Carlo Scarpa (1906–1978), a major figure in 20th-century architecture and glass art. Stained Glass in Islamic Lands
Trans-Mediterranean Networks, Local Identities and Glass Technology (2025–2029)
This SNSF project, conducted between 2025-2029, is dedicated to the multifaceted history of stained glass and dalle de verre in North Africa during the 19th and 20th century. The project’s main objective is to analyse the connections and interplay between production, commercialisation, perception and development of these art forms in the colonial and post-colonial era.

Das Vitrocentre Romont verfügt über umfangreiches Archivmaterial zur Glaskunst, das sonst nirgends in der Schweiz existiert. Die Nachlässe von Künstler:innen und Ateliers sowie Kunsthistoriker:innen und Fachgesellschaften aus dem 19. bis 21. Jahrhundert bieten einzigartige Möglichkeiten für die wissenschaftliche Forschung.
Die im Vitrocentre Romont konservierten Bestände können eingesehen werden und sind über das online-Inventar zugänglich.
