Built in 1609 for Ital Reding, "Reding-Haus an der Schmiedgasse" in Schwyz holds a large collection of Swiss stained glass from the 16th–20th century. The catalogue of the stained glass panels and introductory texts are now published on vitrosearch.ch.
The project aims to provide the hitherto lacking art-historical and material analysis of Islamic coloured glass windows (qamarīya) of the 17th to 19th centuries within Western museum collections and at World’s Fairs and to critically examine questions about their provenance.
The privately owned von Reding collection in Schwytz and its history were researched in collaboration with the Canton of Schwyz's Department of Culture.
The catalogue section of the publication has been available via the vitrosearch platform since July 2018. Discover the 416 stained glass panels on vitrosearch!
